Ahmed disclosed this to newsmen after an inspection of facilities in Ikot Ekpene Prisons on Friday. The controller general, who described the facilities in Ikot Ekpene Prisons as well fortified, attributed the jailbreak to lapses on the part of prison staff. “About 40 inmates found their way out of Ikot Ekpene Prisons in a broad daylight around 11.45am. “They took on the lapses that they saw, perhaps they have been planning it for a very long time and actualised it on December 27, 2017 when they saw the opportunity. “The 28 that are at large are very hardened criminals; some of them are kidnappers awaiting trials, some are facing capital offences and therefore it is something to worry about,” Ahmed sai

While speaking to correspondents, 18-year-old suspected Badoo member, Chibuzor Igwe, revealed in chilling details how he and other members killed a pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) last year at Igbogbo, Ikorodu area of Lagos State. The pastor, Victor Kanayo, was attached to Finger of God Parish, Igbogbo. He was murdered on November 26, around 7p.m., at his residence, along Offin, Igbogbo. Igwe and four other suspects, including a lady, Gift Akaeze, were paraded by the police yesterday. Other suspects are Fatai Adebayo alias Alese, Samuel Akaeze, alias Samiti and Omotayo Abamoyegun. Adebayo is alleged to be the chief herbalist and was further alleged of being a kingpin of the gang. He is also alleged of being the person in charge of fortifying members before they go out for killing operations.

A 26-year-old Nigerian woman was killed by a blow to the neck with a sharp object in the asylum-seeker reception centre at Mineo near Catania, Italy on Tuesday, January 2.
