A two-storey building has reportedly collapsed in Aguleri-otu in
Anambra East Local Government Area of Anambra State.
DAILYPOST gathered that six persons were trapped in the building
said to be under construction.
An eyewitness, who blamed the incident on use of substandard
materials, said it took the timely intervention of the State
Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, who alerted other state
agencies, including the Red Cross to rescue the trapped persons.
Reacting to the incident, a Director of the SEMA, Mr. Chukwudi
Onyejekwe, said 6 persons were rescued while no life was lost.
On his part, the Chairman, State Material Testing and
Laboratories, Ebosie Ezeoke, said the structure was constructed
within two months, a development he said was totally
unprofessional.
He, however revealed that the sample of the materials used for
the building have been collected for technical analysis and further
investigation.
Our correspondent gathered that the rescued victims had been
taken to the hospital for proper medical attention.
